BIOGRAPHY
Aaron Rubin is a San Diego-based music producer, engineer, mixer, and songwriter who has worked with a diverse range of artists in the alternative rock world. His meticulous approach to production, focus on songwriting, and ability to collaborate closely with artists, has helped him push artists out of their comfort zones, achieving forward-thinking music that still harnesses the emotions and characteristics of their past works.
His illustrious career includes work on blink-182's highly anticipated 2023 album "One More Time,” which debuted at #1 in the US and the top of the charts globally, marking a significant achievement for both the band and Aaron himself. Serving as a co-producer, co-writer, and engineer on the album, he played a pivotal role in shaping its incredibly well-received sound.
He has worked extensively with other notable artists, including Ilan Rubin, a multi-talented musician known for his work as a drummer for Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves, and Paramore, amongst others. Aaron’s production and mixing skills beautifully complement Ilan's distinctly elevated and eclectic musical style, resulting in captivating and dynamic albums from his first solo endeavor, The New Regime, and various bombastic singles now under his own name.
Aaron's creative contributions extend to his work with Angels & Airwaves, a renowned alternative rock band founded by blink-182 member Tom DeLonge. As a producer, engineer, mixer and co-writer, he plays a pivotal role in capturing the band's artistic vision, aiding in taking their unique sound to new places that have clearly created a noticeable inflection point in the band’s discography from 2013 album “The Dream Walker” to the 2021 critically acclaimed album “Lifeforms”.
Other notable collaborations include Illenium’s “Paper Thin” (50+ million streams) from the Grammy-nominated album “Fallen Embers,” engineering on Frank Turner’s #1 album “FTHC,” and producing and co-writing the track “Only Friend” with Australian indie-pop singer/songwriter Amy Shark.
Most recently Aaron worked on the latest Wavves album “Spun”, a passion project that ultimately became one of his favorite albums to be a part of. “Nathan Williams and I immediately clicked musically and set out to make an album that was our musical ode to bands we loved growing up in the 90s”, explains Aaron. “My primary goal is to always help shape the artist to be the best version of themselves while striving to make each song undeniable. When this happens, magic is possible.”
